Fernandez, 13, plays for Beachside Soccer Club of Connecticut, a Southwest Connecticut premier youth soccer club.
Beachside’s leadership staff also directs “BSC CT Academy” a member of U.S. Soccer Federation’s Development Academy, which is a league of about 80 clubs across the country selected by the federation for the quality of instructional environment provided.
“I was sleeping on the couch when my dad said I might want to wake up and read an email that just came in," Fernandez said. "It woke me up all right.”
Fernandez attends Eastern Middle School in Riverside. He plays as midfielder on Beachside’s “BSC Academy” U14 team.
“They really like the way he plays” said Beachside and BSC director Mickey Kydes. “JP has worked incredibly hard to develop remarkable skill for his age. He has a great understanding of soccer and makes quick, good, decisions on the field.”
