STAMFORD, Conn. — A statue of baseball star Jackie Robinson in a park on Stamford’s West Side that bears his name was added to an international database out of the United Kingdom.

The Sporting Statues database put together a list of 200 statues, and Robinson has the most with seven across the United States and Canada, a statement from the company said.

The Sporting Statues started in 2010, but launched its U.S. Baseball Statues database and map Tuesday, the statement said. The database supplies information about where statues are located, when they were erected and the artist who sculpted them.

Jackie Robinson, who was the first African-American major league player, lived in Stamford.

In addition to the baseball statues, the database has information for other athlete statues and sculptures from around the world. Visit Sporting Statues website for more information.
