Stamford's Cortese Earns College Football Honor

STAMFORD, Conn. – Trinity Catholic grad Vinny Cortese, a senior at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., was named Tuesday to the D3Football.com All-South Region Team.

Cortese was named a third-team All-Region selection after totaling 47 tackles this season. He also earned first-team all-conference honors in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Cortese had 9.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks. He finished 36th in the conference in tackles, fourth in sacks and eighth in tackles for a loss. He had two games with eight tackles. He finished his career with totals of 163 tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks.

His brother, Nick, a junior running back, rushed for 371 yards and three touchdowns for Catholic, which finished 3-7.
