Stamford's Baines Tops 1,000 Points In Greens Farms' Rout Of King

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford’s Zach Baines topped 1,000 points for his career Tuesday as Greens Farms Academy of Westport crushed King of Stamford, 78-40, in a game in Westport.

Baines scored 18 points and Jim Djema scored 22 for the Dragons, who improved to 9-8 overall and 5-6 in the Fairchester Athletic Association.

He became the seventh player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point plateau. The McDonald’s All-American nominee will continue his career at Middlebury College.

He topped the milestone on an alley-oop with an assist from Djema. Click here for a video of Baines' shot.

Baines is averaging 15.7 points per game for the Dragons, who have won four of their last five games. They play St. Luke’s on Friday in a rematch of a contest in December in which the Crusaders won, 57-54.

GFA is trying to climb up in the FAA standings, where they are currently sixth in the eight team league. The Dragons are the two-time defending champions in Class C of the New England Prep School Athletic Conference.

King is 0-9 in the conference and 3-11 overall.
