Stamford Youth Soccer League’s Boys U11 Wins CT State Cup

​​​​​​​STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Youth Soccer League’s Boys U11 White Team won the Connecticut Cup on Saturday, Nov. 7, winning the Championship against Weston’s U11 Blue, with a score of 5-1.

The game was held at the Farmington Sports Fields in Farmington. The Connecticut Cup is a statewide competition in which travel teams from around Connecticut in the same age group compete. 

In their advance to the CT Cup finals, the SYSL U11 Boys White team won five games, against Wethersfield Fury, Wilton U11 Blue, Newington Strikers, New Canaan Red, and Farmington U11A, before defeating the Weston U11 Blue team at the Cup final.

Team members are: William Anderson, Massimo Costa, Darsein Gabriel, Logan Goncalves, CJ Hyde, Dima Lonevsky, Edwin Medina, Antonio Ninivaggi, Andre Quijada, Arian Recinos, Malik Samms, Brian Sawch, Dylan Schmitke, and Luke Vander Kolk.

The team's head coach is Jason Segovia with assistance from John Anderson and Bill Sawch, and the team is managed by Christina Vander Kolk. 

In League play, the Hurricanes finished their season in first place with a 7-1-0 record, and head into the playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 14, with a semifinal game against the Soccer Club of Ridgefield (SCOR).

Founded in 1977, the nonprofit Stamford Youth Soccer League provides opportunities to play soccer for youth between the ages of 4 and 19. About 1,800 boys and girls participate between a House League for beginners, a developmental Travel League for more experienced players, and a Premier Travel League for advanced players.
