STAMFORD, Conn — In addition to its large recreational youth basketball leagues, the Stamford Youth Basketball League  also runs travel teams for its elite players. These travel teams compete in the 250-team Fairfield County Basketball League.

The teams play a regular season schedule from December through February. In March, the league runs tournament games in about three dozen gyms around the county to determine post season champions as well. 

The League also hosts countywide skills compettions in shooting, dribbling and one-on-one play.

The try-outs for the Stamford Youth travel teams will be held as follows: 

• 4th graders: November 1, Stillmeadow Elementary School, 5:45pm

• 5th and 6th graders: Novevember 2, Turn of River Middle School, 6 p.m.

• 7th and 8th graders: November 4, Rippowam Middle School, 6 p.m.
