STAMFORD, Conn. The Stamford Junior Wrestling warriors had a winning weekend as numerous boys medaled at tournaments in Danbury and Ridgefield.
Danbury won 21 medals at the Western Connecticut Elementary championships on Saturday in Danbury. Stamford finished third in team scoring with 40, two points behind champion Danbury. New Milford finished second with 41 points.
Gold medalists for Stamford included Mike Edwards, William Grimes, Justin Gutierrez, Isaiah Johnson, Nolan Morris and Roderick Olson. Second place finishers were Louis Ceci, Dhruv Khanna, Rohan Minott and Chase Parrott. Earning third place were Kyle Busch, Vincent Ceci, Alex Edwards, Lucas Gutierrez, Mitchell Grimes, Matt Kelly, Justin Lueders, Tom Mazur and Rydan Olson. Dan Fox and Tyler Lueders placed fourth.
Stamfords Middle School wrestlers competed in the Western Connecticut championships at Ridgefield on Sunday. Michael Ceci and Jake Heerman finished third, and Jeremy Czmanski, Matthew Conte, Ethan Ross and Thomas Uhl took fourth.
