“The Stamford KIC IT Triathlon weekend has become a well-loved tradition for families throughout Fairfield County and beyond,” race director Jon Stellwagen said. “Last year was the first year that the Stamford KIC IT Triathlon sold out, and given the current rate of registration, I anticipate that the race will sell out again. We are very excited about the popularity of the Kids Triathlon and look forward to a fun race for the youngest triathletes.”

The sixth annual triathlon takes place June 30 beginning at Cummings Beach in Stamford. The kids triathlon takes place June 29. Both events support Cos Cob-based Kids in Crisis, a free emergency shelter and 24-hour crisis counseling center for Fairfield County children and families.

The kids triathlon has been expanded to include a race wave for 6- and 7-year-old children. The first wave for children begins at 7:30 a.m. Sunday’s race begins at 6:30 a.m.

Kids In Crisis will host a Family Sports Challenge at Chelsea Piers on Sunday, March 3. Children ages 5-17 and adults will be challenged to obstacle courses, races and games.

This year’s course will have some significant modifications. Visit the event website for complete information.
