Stamford Residents Help Guide Eastern Connecticut To Wins In Basketball

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford residents Kevin Leumene and Brandon Yarborough played key roles in guiding the men's basketball team at Eastern Connecticut State University to the title last month at the University of Rochester/Holiday Inn Airport Thanksgiving Invitational title in Rochester, N.Y.

Leumene, a junior, played a full 40 minutes in the championship game against York and was second on the team in scoring with 15 points. 

Yarborough, a senior, also chipped in with six points and was tied for the team lead in blocks with two on the game. 

As a result of the win, the Warriors made it into the d3hoops.com Top 25 poll for the first time this season. 

Eastern also won its 20th consecutive conference game on Dec. 6. 

The team will take a break for the holidays before returning to action against Marietta College on Dec. 30 and Messiah College on Dec. 31.
