Stamford North Little League Looks To Add Division 1 Title

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford North meets Fairfield American on Thursday at Scalzi Park as it looks to continue its unbeaten run in Little League postseason play.

Stamford North plays Fairfield in the five-team Division 1 tournament. The winner will meet the Division II winner for the state title and a berth in the New England Regional. Thursday’s game begins at 7 p.m.

Stamford North rolled through the District 1 tournament, compiling a 7-0 record while outscoring opponents 60-9. Stamford North blanked Weston, 9-0, to win the championship last Friday. Stamford North pitchers hurled three shutouts in its runs to the District 1 title.

The Little League programs in North Stamford and Springdale combined to form the Stamford North team this year.

Stamford North’s team is David Collazo, Ethan Davis, Jayden Dawkins, Todd Guttman, Tucker Healy, Matt Jester, Jay Lockwood, Mason Masterson, Calvin McKeever, Ben Nash, Ethan Skaug, Andrew Stietzel, Patrick Teasdale and Tyler Tuccinardi.

Bob Robustelli is the manager. His assistants are Art Murphy, Dan Possidento and David Skaug.

The Division 1 tournament continues through Sunday. The state tournament begins Wednesday, July 29, in Newington.
