This year, the Cricket Cup will benefit the Stamford Fire Safety Foundation Fund, which was set up after the deadly Christmas morning fire in Stamford to teach people about fire safety in the home, and Asha For Education, a group that helps underprivileged kids gain an education.
The event will take place Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lione Park, 325 Stillwater Ave., with group cricket matches Saturday and the semifinals and finals Sunday. There will also be food, face painting, fire trucks, and other activities for kids.
There is no fee to attend the matches, but donations are welcome.
Tawa Indian Restaurant and Network of Asian Moms are co-sponsoring the event.
