STAMFORD, Conn. – Six cheerleading teams from the Stamford-based Gold Coast All-Stars won trophies at the group’s second competition of the season Saturday in Worcester, Mass.
Gold Coast teams won three first-place trophies and three second-place trophies at The Coastal Corporation Cheer and Dance Big League Brawl. Gold Coast’s Anika Bjarnadottir also won an award for the best jumper.
"Going into this competition was a little more stressful than normal, having to compete so soon after holiday break,’’ head coach Tammy Thompson said. “Everyone worked together and really pushed themselves. It was a great day for Gold Coast.”
Gold Coast teams Whirlwind, Tiny Pandemonium and Mayhem took first place. Chaos, Haywire and Cyclones finished second. All six teams qualified for the U.S. Finals in May.

They work so hard to add more difficulty to their routine for each competition. With two wins at the first two competitions, Mayhem is off to a great start and working hard to keep their momentum going for the rest of the season."
