Springdale and North Stamford remained undefeated in the District 1 Little League tournament Saturday. Darien National is also undefeated as the teams near the end of pool play. The tournament concludes next weekend.
Springdale improved to 4-0 with a 12-3 win over Federal in a pool B game. North Stamford defeated National Lione in pool A, 6-2, and is 5-0. North Stamford secured a spot in the elimination round with the victory. All of the other teams in pool B have at least two losses, and North Stamford has one pool game remaining. It plays Ridgefield American Sunday at Bisceglie Field in Weston at 2 p.m.
Springdale remained on a collision course with Darien National in pool B. Both teams are 4-0 entering games on Sunday. Springdale plays Stamford Northrop at 2 p.m. Sunday at Frank Noto Field in Stamford. Darien National plays at Noto Field at 4:30 p.m. Springdale and Darien National meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Springdale.
In other games on Saturday, Ridgefield American defeated Norwalk, 6-2, and Darien American blanked Wilton, 6-0, in pool A. In pool B, Northrop edged Redding, 5-4, and Ridgefield National defeated Stamford American, 14-5.
In other games today, Wilton meets Weston at Bisceglie at 4:30. Stamford American meets Redding at 2 p.m. at Caporizzo Field, followed by Norwalk vs. Darien American.
In the 9-10-year-old tournament Sunday, Wilton meets North Stamford for the District 1 title at 7 p.m. at Springdale.
