This annual event will give athletes of all abilities from the region opportunities to compete in track and field and aquatics and tennis.

Over 1,000 athletes and Unified Sports partners, representing 33 teams are expected to participate. An additional 200 coaches and 600 volunteers are expected to support the event. In addition to competition, athletes will have the opportunity to visit Olympic Town – an area offering entertainment, educational and interactive activities – and the Healthy Athletes display, where they can learn about the benefits of physical activity during the downtime between their events.

The southern time trials is the qualifying event for the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games state competition, being held Friday, June 10, through Sunday, June 12, at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven and Hamden Hall Athletic Fields in Hamden.

Events are open to the public and there is no cost to attend. All are encouraged to come out and cheer on the athletes who will be competing.
