Second Loss Eliminates Stamford North Little League From State Tourney

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Stamford North Little League Baseball All-Stars were eliminated Saturday from the Connecticut Little League Baseball State Championship after losing their second game in the tournament.

Stamford North, the Division 1 champions, lost Saturday afternoon to Southington South, 12-3. This came on the heels of a 15-4 loss to Waterford on Friday night.

The boys from North Stamford had beaten Southington South, 6-2, on Wednesday in the first round of the state tournament.  

The Connecticut Little League Baseball State Championship continues Sunday at Volunteer Field in Newington. Waterford, the Division 3 champion, will take on Southington South, the Division 2 champion, at 2 p.m. to decide the winner.  

Stamford North Little League reached the Connecticut "Final Four" with a dramatic 5-4 win in seven innings over Fairfield American in the Division 1 tournament at Scalzi Park last week.

Stamford North’s team is David Collazo, Ethan Davis, Jayden Dawkins, Todd Guttman, Tucker Healy, Matt Jester, Jay Lockwood, Mason Masterson, Calvin McKeever, Ben Nash, Ethan Skaug, Andrew Stietzel, Patrick Teasdale and Tyler Tuccinardi.

Bob Robustelli is the manager. His assistants are Art Murphy, Dan Possidento and David Skaug.
