Record Field Boogies for Bunnies in Darien

DARIEN, Conn. — Darien’s Peter Watson and Wilton’s Amy Bevilaqua were the men’s and women’s overall winners in Saturday’s Bunny Boogie 3-mile road race in Darien. The race attracted a record 235 finishers, eclipsing the previous mark of 194 in 2009.

Watson, a junior at Williams College and a member of the school’s cross country team, ran 15:36.4. Stamford’s Jeff Watson took second in 16:41.9, while Greenwich’s Andrew Jarombek was third among men in 17:13.3.

Bevilaqua, one of the region’s top triathletes, ran 16:54.4 and finished third overall. Sharon Lemberger ran 17:45.1 to finish second, followed by Wilton’s Mary Zengo in 18:04.1.

With a 2:30 head start, the top three women were the first finishers in the race. Complete results are available on clubct.org.
