STAMFORD, Conn. After a long weekend on the road, Stamford F.C. Premier U-14 Soccer had a strong team effort to shut out Fairfield United F.C., 2-0, in Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Premier League play.
Leao Valladares was the first to find the goal with a nice lead pass from Jose Vergara. Valladares shot into the lower left corner made it challenging for Fairfield Uniteds keeper. Max Atkinson headed the ball in for the second goal off a well-placed cross from Victor Gjuraj. Isaac Lowel and Tomas Pinto-Leite had many shots on goal that were blocked by the Fairfield keeper.
Overall, Stamford outshot Fairfield, 13-3. Substitute keeper Kevin Lam saw minimal pressure but performed admirably.
Stamfords defense of Ariel De La Rosa, Brad Kaptinski, Jorge Ulloa and Jose Vergara and midfielders Ralph Danielle, Jeffrey Beltran and Jack Duffy were able to close down any offensive drives.
Stamford F.C. has a 6-2 record on the season and has one more game to make up against CFC Azzurri on a yet-to-be-determined date.
