North Stamford Little League Roundup

STAMFORD, Conn. — Below is a roundup of several games played in the North Stamford Little League last week.

Monday, April 9

County was led offensively by Jordan Trief, who had an opposite-field home run. Unity had a strong defensive effort by Aidan Cahill at third base. Dom Screk had a home run. Simon Uka pitched a complete game.

Tuesday, April 10

Grant Purpura and Noah Skayg combined to pitch a one-hit opening game shutout against Italian Center in leading Haggerty Pools to a 17-0 victory. Purpura led the offense, collecting three hits, including a grand slam home run. Hunter Semmel also had three hits, including two home runs, to drive in five for the game. Nathan Salm hit three singles, driving in two runs, while Skayg and Maya Klein had two hits each to help the offense. Brian Noone played well for Italian Center.

Wednesday, April 11

Sound View got off to a quick start in the top of the first with seven runs and held on for a 10-7 win over Instant Replay in the first game of the season for both teams. Thomas Van Belle ignited the Sound View attack, which was also led by Bobby Zmarzlak, John Farrell and Matt Greenbaum. John Farrel pitched a solid 4 ? innings for Sound View before Matt Rutherford came in to shut the door. Instant Replay was led by the pitching of Mark Murphy and Tyler Austin. Jack Morris, Cole Imbrogno, Justin Lockery and Dylan Sparks each had good all-around games for Instant Replay.

Thursday, April 12

Viking beat First County Bank by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead after First County scored two runs in the top of the sixth. Viking was lead by strong pitching from Sam Lombino and Sammy Spingola and great defense by catcher Nico Morse. Kyle McGarry got the winning rally started with a perfect bunt single. Logan Healey had two hits and Connor Smith a two-run single in the top of the sixth for First County Bank, while Sam Pensiero made two nice plays in centerfield.
