STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford baseball players received an early season gift as Stamford Babe Ruth Baseball donated and installed two new dugouts at Belltown Park.
The league decided to replace the old dugouts after the yellow plastic covering had begun to wear away and was in need of a face-lift, a league statement said. The new metal covered dugouts were constructed in February and completed just weeks before the baseball season is set to begin.
The new dugouts will see their first action when the high school junior varsity’s league begins as Stamford High and Trinity Catholic High share the field. The Babe Ruth season will follow with the 13-year-old Jamboree and middle school program, the statement said.
The league thanked the city for permits and inspections, Fidelio and Sons for the mason work, and Stamford Forge for the steel-work.
