In the upcoming final, No 1 ranked Westhill High School will face No. 3 ranked Norwalk High School. Rilling made the challenge to Martin on Thursday, after each team’s victory in the semifinals.

If Westhill wins, Rilling has agreed to wear a Westhill Vikings T-shirt and treat the Westhill team and Martin to lunch in Stamford. If Norwalk High School wins, Martin agreed to do the same in Norwalk.

In addition, the winning school -- and city -- will be afforded highly prized bragging rights for the next year.   “I’m looking forward to attending the game tomorrow along with Mayor Rilling and celebrating the great success of the Vikings this season, which I am certain will culminate in a Championship win. It should be a lot of fun,” said Martin, whose two daughters are Westhill graduates.

The details were revealed as the two mayors trash-talked on the phone in front of witnesses, according to an email from Rilling.

Rilling said he was the good luck charm at Norwalk High’s game against Wilton and said he is ready to cheer on his alma mater.

The game is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fairfield Warde High School.
