Football Club U-14 Premier Soccer Wins Two

STAMFORD, Conn — After a long weekend on the road, Stamford F.C. Premier U-14 Soccer team is happy to have two more Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Premier League wins under its belt.

On Saturday, Stamford F.C. traveled to Bloomfield, Conn., to take on Valeo F.C. Valeo displayed good possession, passing and ball-handling skills but were unable to put one in Stamford’s net.

Stamford keeper Danny Roca felt significant Valeo pressure and had 16 saves despite strong defensive play by Kevin Lam, Brad Kaptinski, Ariel De La Rosa and Jorge Ulloa and Max Atkinson. Stamford's Jeffery Beltran scored a goal in the 36th minute of play on a pass from Isaac Lowell.

Victor Gjuraj scored the second goal not two minutes later on a well-placed direct kick to the lower left hand corner of the net. In the second half, Tomas Pinto-Leite was driving down the left side when he was fouled in the box. Leao Valladares scored on the penalty kick, giving Stamford a 3-0 lead that turned out to be the final score.

On Sunday, Stamford F.C. traveled to Mansfield Center, Conn., to take on Northeast F.C. Stamford found the net within the first three minutes of play when Isaac Lowell had a nice pass to Victor Gjuraj, who placed his shot in the upper right hand corner.

Three minutes later, Leao Valladares had a break away and blasted the shot into the net. Stamford midfielders Max Atkinson, Ralph Danielle, Jack Duffy and Jeffrey Beltran showed excellent possession and passing skills.

Fifteen minutes into the game, Beltran had a nice assist to Valladares, who scored his second goal. Isaac Lowell scored the fourth goal with an excellent follow through on a rebound off the Northeastern keeper. Brad Kaptinski scored the fifth goal off a penalty kick shortly before half time.

Early in the second half, Northeast scored on a penalty kick in the box. Keeper Danny Roca blocked the first shot but was called for a penalty for coming off the line. Northeast’s second penalty shot went in.

Stamford’s final goal closed the game out 8-1 when Atkinson passed to left wing Tomas Pinto-Leite. Stamford F.C. plays Everton America CT home at Westhill next Sunday at 12 p.m.
