Stamford's Stanley Paul Helps Lead UConn To Big East Baseball Title

GREENWICH, Conn. -- University of Connecticut junior left-hander Anthony Marzi of Berlin threw a complete game four-hitter and L.J. Mazzilli of Greenwich hit a two-run home run to lead the Huskies to an 8-1 win over Notre Dame in the championship game of the 2013 Big East tournament in Clearwater, Fla.

With the title, UConn now advances to play in the NCAA tournament for the third time in the past four years. The Big East title is the third in UConn history joining the 1990 and '94 teams.

Mazzilli, a senior second baseman, hit a two-run home run to left in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 head.

Senior designated hitter Stanley Paul of Stamford also contributed an RBI, doubling home freshman catcher Max McDowell in the seventh inning to make it 7-1.
