STAMFORD, Conn. – Donny Panapada, a former player and assistant coach at Trinity Catholic High School, was named the team’s new head coach Monday morning in Stamford.

Panapada replaces Pete Stokes, who resigned following the  2012 season to spend more time with his family. The Crusaders went 8-3 last year and lost in the quarterfinals of the Class S Tournament.

Panapada played for Trinity Catholic from 1989-92, where he was a three-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines. He was a two-time selection on the All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference first team.

Panapada joined Stokes’ coaching staff in 2010, and was the defensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He also coached at Trinity from 1994-96 under Rich Albonizio, and with Albonizio at Greenwich from 1997-2002. Panapada played under Albonizio at Trinity Catholic.
