Picard Petion, a junior who plays as a point guard on Trinity Catholic High School's junior varsity team, said he wasn't surprised by James' choice to return home. LeBron will be joining a young but talented team that gives him a better chance to win more championships, Petion said.
"He's trying to win as much rings as possible. He and Kyrie (Irving) will be a good duo, plus Andrew Wiggins," he added about the Cavaliers top choice in the recent NBA draft.
But Chris Joassin said he was a little surprised by the move, especially because he believed the Heat gave LeBron best chance for his third title.
"I think he has a better chance of winning right away in Miami. The only thing they need is someone to play in Dwayne Wade's spot," said Joassin, who has little faith in the Heat's aging star.
Joassin is a shooting guard on the Trinity JV team.
"I think they will be looking for a star," he said of Miami. "They are going to need someone to step up in his spot."
That star will not be free agent Carmelo Anthony, who Joassin believes will not re-sign with the New York Knicks and instead opt for the Chicago Bulls.
Peyton Lennard, who attends Westhill High School and plays Stamford youth basketball, said he was a little bit surprised by LeBron's decision.
"I think he's going to do pretty good because Kyrie Irving is one of the best players in the league," he said.
So will James win an NBA title this upcoming season?
"I think he will," Petion said while Joassin and Lennard emphatically shook their heads in disagreement.
