All-Stars Named at Wilton Youth Basketball Tourney

WILTON, Conn. – Players in the Tyler Ugolyn basketball tournament were named to the All-Star team in the boys and girls varsity divisions in the event hosted by Our Lady of Fatima School in Wilton.

This was the first year players were chosen All-Stars for the tournament, which is named after an alumnus of the school. The players were divided into two teams. Randy Weiss, Terry Sullivan, Tom Burgess and Bill Coupe coached the players in an All-Star game.

All-Stars for the girls included Our Lady of Fatima players Mary Lynch, Mariah Ventrella, Lexi Oskam, Caraline Higgins and Mary Conlon; Olivia Troy, Olivia Prescott, Monica Haffey, Shannon Buttling, Kirsten Bloom and Candice Wright from All Saints of Norwalk; Kate Muldon and Grace Donelan of St. Thomas's seventh grade; and Colleen Rauser and Danielle Kosterbay of St. Jude.

For the boys, Our Lady of Fatima was represented by seventh-graders Matt Rubsam, Matty Fair and Thomas Prackup, and eighth-graders Ryan Murphy, Zach Duffy and Keiran O’Reilly. Other All-Stars included Brendan Beiser and Brendan Carey of St. Thomas Shehan, Aidan Kudzy and Paul Cippollaro of St. Thomas seventh-grade, Jaudens Florian and Tim Welch of St. Theresa, St. Joseph players Stephen Blade and Spencer Gilbert, Trinity Middle School’s Cameron Kelly and Tyler Austin, and St. Catherine eighth-graders Billy Quigley and Paul DeFelice.

The tournament championship games will be played Friday. In the girls varsity, Our Lady of Fatima meets Trinity Catholic Middle School at 6:15. Our Lady of Fatima boys meet St. Thomas at 8 p.m. in the boys championship game.
