STAMFORD, Conn. The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference boys basketball tournament will go through Stamford.
All three schools from the city qualified for the tournament, which begins Saturday at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.
Trinity Catholic (14-4 in the conference) earned the leagues No. 2 seed and will play No. 7 Danbury at 2 p.m.
Westhill (13-5) is seeded fifth and plays No. 4 Bassick at 5 p.m.
Stamford (11-7) earned the No. 6 seed and will play No. 3 Ridgefield at noon.
Top-seeded St. Joseph (18-0) will play No. 8 Central at 7 p.m.
Stamford won seven of its final eight games to earn the No. 6 seed. Included in that stretch was a 50-39 road win against Ridgefield. The Black Knights were 1-5 in league play after a Jan. 6 loss to Trinity Catholic before regrouping and getting hot down the stretch.
Trinity Catholic won its final three regular-season games. It wrapped up the season Wednesday with a 61-59 win versus Trumbull.
Westhill had its four-game winning streak snapped Wednesday by Ridgefield, dropping a 54-46 decision. Westhill beat Bassick during the regular season, 72-62, but was forced to forfeit the victory due to an ineligible player. Bassick, of Bridgeport, beat the Vikings in the Kuczo Tournament in December, 71-45.
