Westhill, Academy Of IT High Schools Rank Among Connecticut's Best

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Westhill High School and the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering in Stamford have been ranked among the best in Connecticut by U.S. News & World Report in rankings released Tuesday morning.

Westhill High School, along with the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering in Stamford, are ranked among the best high schools in Connecticut.

Westhill was the 11th-highest ranked high school in all of Fairfield County, and came in as the 32th-best in the state.

Its student population of 2,130 met or exceeded the state average in all of the surveys major metrics, which included: College readiness, mathematics proficiency and English proficiency. The school also boasts an Advanced Placement participation rate of 46 percent.

The Academy of Information Technology was ranked 43th in the state and 13th in Fairfield County. It also met exceeded the state average in all three metrics.

Several other high schools in Fairfield County were ranked in the Top 50 in the state, including:

Darien (No. 8)
Wilton (No. 9)
Ridgefield (No. 11)
Joel Barlow (No. 13)
Greenwich (No. 14)
New Canaan (No. 15)
Fairfield Ludlowe (No. 24)
Fairfield Warde (No. 30)
Westhill (No. 32)
Brien McMahon (No. 41)
Academy of Information Technology & Engineering (No. 43)

Honors for the top ranked high school in the Nutmeg State went to the Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy in East Hartford.
