Cagliostro announced her decision last week, effective at the end of the 2017-2018 school, after 26 years as an educator.

"Ms. Cagliostro has always been regarded as an educator who cares deeply about students, the faculty, and staff," Superintendent Jen Lamia said. "Every note or email sent from her ends with the word 'Warmly,' which truly reflects her connection to our school community.

Lamia said the district will follow the same search process recently conducted when the district looked for a middle school principal.

"We are confident that Byram Hills’ reputation will draw experienced candidates," Lamia said.

Cagliostro said it was an honor and privilege to work at Wampus Elementary.

"We have accomplished a number of goals of which I am personally proud," Cagliostro said. " Most importantly, I’m proud that our students are happy and excited to learn and are developing into innovative thinkers. They care about each other and themselves. We have achieved many outcomes that I believe have provided our students with wonderful opportunities to truly become leaders of the 21st century. I am confident that I will be leaving Wampus in the best of hands."
