The complex has been in the planning and fundraising stage for three years. The complex will include artificial turf, lights, bleachers and a press box.
School officials said they hope work can begin on the project in spring and be completed by the start of the fall sports season in September. Alumni Field, home venue for Trinity's football team, is one of the few remaining grass fields in Fairfield County. Many other schools in the county also play their games under the lights.
The school has $2.3 million has raised in donations, the story said. The project is part of the school's ENVISION Campaign to upgrade and renovate facilities and add the latest tools in educational technology.
