District students will expand their understanding of STEM through lessons and activities in and out of the classrooms. Each evening will bring new activities ranging from Skyping with an astronaut to talks from entrepreneurs sharing their insight regarding online media.
The weeklong event concludes with the second annual STEMfest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 16 at Stamford’s Mill River Park.
“The goals of the Stamford STEMweek and STEMfest are to build awareness about STEM for students, and their parents; to demonstrate to them how much fun these disciplines can be; and to show students how STEM is inherent in many of the things we do every day,” said Dr. Carrie Chiappetta, SPS Director for School Improvement and Personal Development in a statement.
“We also want students to get a better understanding about the career and college opportunities there are for STEM-focused education.”
STEMfest is a free event open to the public.
