Stamford's Newfield Elementary School Hosts Geographic Bee

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Newfield Elementary School will hold its competition for the National Geographic Bee on Friday at 12:45 p.m.

For the 27th year, the National Geographic Society is holding the National Geographic Bee for students in the Grades 4 through 8, in thousands of schools across the United States and in the five U.S. territories, as well as in Department of Defense Dependents Schools around the world.

Friday's competition will be in the Newfield Elementary School's auditorium, 345 Pepper Ridge Road in Stamford, Conn.

Ten students with the highest scores will compete in the final school competition at Newfield Elementary on Friday. The champion will advance to the next level of competition, a written examination to determine state competitors. The first prize, a $50,000 college scholarship, will be awarded to the winner at the national championship, May 11-13 in Washington, D.C.

The Geographic Bee will be held in the Newfield Elementary School's auditorium, at 345 Pepper Ridge Road in Stamford, Conn.
