Stamford's Aite Still Alive On MSG Varsity Show

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford’s Academy of Information, Technology, & Engineering will be taking on Joel Barlow High in the regional semifinals of MSG Varsity’s “The Challenge,” on May 10.

The Academy of Information, Technology, & Engineering is one of four schools from Connecticut still eligible for the Tri-State Championship on the trivia contest based television show, a release from the network said.

The team is comprised of Aaron Ghebrehiwet, Rony Islam (Captain), Benjamin Paz, Michael White, (Alternates) Michael Markman and Brian Cheng, and their academic advisor is  Nicholas DeAntonis, according to the release.

“The Challenge” started with 192 schools from Long Island, Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester/Lower Hudson Valley, New Jersey and Connecticut in a tournament style contest, the release said. Each regional champion will get $2,500 for its school, and the tournament champion $10,000 for its school, with each student in the final match-up getting $500, the release said.

The match-up between Academy of Information, Technology & Engineering and Joel Barlow High School will air at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
