Stamford Students Inducted Into Phi Kappa Phi At University Of Maine

STAMFORD, Conn. – Rene Campos, Shannon Brown and Penelope Cote, all of Stamford, have recently been initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University of Bridgeport.

Several Stamford residents were recently inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University of Maine.

Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society.

About 32,000 students, faculty and staff members and alumni are initiated into Phi Kappa Phi every year. They are chosen through invitation and nomination, followed by chapter approval. In order to be eligible, students must be in the top 10 percent of seniors or 7.5 percent of juniors, and have completed 72 semester hours.

Graduate students may also qualify for Phi Kappa Phi membership if they are in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates. Others who may be eligible are staff and faculty members and alumni who have earned scholarly distinction.

The organization’s mission statement is “to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.”
