The following Stamford residents earned their degrees:

• William Allo received a bachelor's degree in information technology.

• Angelo Maragos received a bachelor's degree in information technology.

For the third year, UMass-Lowell held two commencement ceremonies because of the increase in graduates, up more than 300 from 2013 and more than 1,500 since 2007.

During that timeframe,-UMass Lowell has seen enrollment grow 45 percent and this is the seventh year in a row that a record number received degrees from the university.

Both ceremonies were presided over by UMass Lowell Chancellor Marty Meehan. The morning ceremony honored bachelor's degree recipients from the university's College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; College of Sciences; Francis College of Engineering; and Manning School of Business and featured Commencement addresses by Bill Nye "the Science Guy" and student speaker Corey Lanier, a criminal justice and political science major from Dracut.

The afternoon ceremony recognized all graduates from UMass Lowell's College of Health Sciences and Graduate School of Education, as well as recipients of master's and doctoral degrees from its other schools and colleges. Speakers at that ceremony were U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Howard Koh and Ashley Corbett of Stoneham, who received her doctoral degree in physical therapy.
