The students were honored for the excellence they display in the classroom, on the athletic fields and in the broader school community.

Brouwer, a senior, earned a Cavalier Scholar certificate, an award given to the student whose grade-point average is a 4.0 or higher. While excelling in her academic load of four AP classes and one honors class, Brouwer is a member of the Skyliners synchronized skating senior team, which recently returned from Sweden where she and her teammates represented Team USA.

The Skyliners finished fifth against top teams from Sweden and Finland. Later this month, she will compete with her teammates in the U.S. nationals in Colorado Springs, Colo. Last month, the Skyliners won a gold medal in Hershey, Pa., at the Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Championships.

Harvey athletic director Mark Brandon has high praise for this month’s top female student-athlete. “Lillian's dedication and time commitment to synchronized skating is an example to us all,” said Brandon.

DePass, a sophomore, earned a Cavalier Scholar certificate for stellar achievement in his academic schedule of five honors classes, including two languages. A three-sport athlete and captain of the junior varsity basketball team, he is also involved in the community service club and is a regular attendee of the school’s monthly trip to the Blythedale Children’s Hospital.

Brandon says DePass is most deserving of the honor. “Mike is an excellent captain, playing with passion and leading by example. His energy and positive attitude are an inspiration to us all.”
