Stamford Schools Hire Interim Principal At Aite

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford Public Schools filled two administrative vacancies, hiring an interim principal for the Academy of Information, Technology & Engineering and an assistant principal for Stamford High School during Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting.

Current Assistant Principal Maria C. (Tina) Rivera will be the interim principal at AITE, replacing Paul Gross, who retired at the end of the school year. She has been at the school since 2004, a statement from the school district said.

Rivera was an administrative intern with the district for the 2003-04 school year and previously taught English/language arts, physical education and health, the statement said. She holds master of arts degree in educational leadership, a master of science degree in exercise science and a bachelor of arts degree in English, all from Southern Connecticut State University, as well as several professional certifications.

Claudia Berlage will be an assistant principal at Stamford High after serving as Mathematics Department head since January, replacing Ray Manka who transferred to Westhill, the release said. She has also been an adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport.

She has previously been a teacher in the Bridgeport Public Schools, a substitute with Stamford Public Schools, and a high school business teacher in Switzerland, the release said. Berlage holds master's degrees in business administration and teaching from the University of Zurich and a doctoral candidate at the University of Bridgeport.
