Stamford Public Schools Featured In All-City String Festival

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford Public Schools will play in the all-city string festival at Cloonan Middle School on Thursday, March 3.

As part of the National Association for Music Education's Music in our Schools month, SPS middle and high schools students and teachers are celebrating with an all-district string festival. There will be two orchestras performing.

One orchestra is comprised of middle school students from Cloonan, Dolan, Rippowam, Turn of River and Rogers International middle schools. Students from Stamford and Westhill high schools will be also be performing.

More than 100 students will be on stage for this concert. In addition, WHS sophomore and Cloonan graduate Brian Kaether will perform two solo selections. Kaether is concertmaster of the Stamford Young Artists Philharmonic and has been concertmaster of the Western Regional Orchestra, assistant concertmaster of the All State Orchestra and was chosen as one of only four students to represent Connecticut in a NAfME National Honors Orchestra in Nashville.

A dress rehearsal on Wednesday, March 2, from 6-8 p.m.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, in the Cloonan Middle School auditorium, 11 West North St.
