Seventh-grader Maddie Martignoni and eighth-grader Zoe Kallenekos were selected to perform in the countywide festival for high-achieving middle school string players. The event is sponsored by the Fairfield County String Teachers.

Students chosen to perform must be recommended by a teacher, as well as audition for the honor. Martignoni and Kallenekos, both cellists, were nominated by their teacher, Wendy Delson, and were chosen from among some of the top students in Fairfield County.

For more than 40 years, the festival has maintained a high quality of musical performance and the number of student participants has increased each year. The concert will take place at 3 p.m. April 2 at Trumbull High School.
