Stamford Mayor, Superintendent Select Kids' Artwork For Christmas Cards

STAMFORD, Conn. – The winners of the 2014 Holiday Greeting Card competition for Stamford Superintendent of Schools Winifred Hamilton and Stamford Mayor David Martin have been announced.

The winners of the 2014 Holiday Greeting Card competition are students at Stillmeadow Elementary School and Springdale Elementary School.

For their holiday cards, Hamilton will use the artwork of Anne Leydon, a first grade student at Stillmeadow Elementary School, and Martin will use the artwork of Emma Cotrona, a fourth grade student at Springdale Elementary School.

Each year, the superintendent and mayor ask art teachers to submit student work for consideration. This year, the winners were selected blindly from among more than 100 elementary student submissions.

Leydon’s art teacher is Kelly Dugan, and Cotrona’s teacher is Susan Ramsey.

The superintendent's runners-up included:

  • Jefte Lopez, Grade 3, Newfield Elementary School (Art teacher: Ronet Noe)
  • Alexis Kovach, Grade 4, Northeast Elementary School (Art teacher: Jack Greco)

The mayor's runners-up included:

  • Lea Jean Pierre, Grade 4, Hart Elementary School (Art teacher: Mark Martini)
  • Kevin Unger, Grade 4, Northeast Elementary School (Art teacher: Jack Greco)

The winners and runners-up are invited to a celebration at Government Center on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 4 p.m.

All submissions will be on display in the lobby of the Government Center now through Jan. 5.
