Stamford Education Group Hosts Successful 5K At Cove Island

STAMFORD, Conn. –The Stamford Public Education Foundation held its second successful MarcUS for Change 5K run/walk recently at Cove Island Park in Stamford.

More than 350 runners and walkers took part in the event.

“We are grateful to all of our sponsors, runners and volunteers who made the day a success. The run raised over $65,000 to date, which is significantly higher than last year,” said SPEF Executive Director Sue Rigano.

All proceeds support SPEF and its nationally recognized mentoring initiatives. 

Top tier sponsors for the event included MarcUS for Change.org, Indeed, PwC, First County Bank and The Canida Family.

Mayor David Martin and school Superintendent Winifred Hamilton were on hand to cheer on participants and kick off the event.

Stamford High School proudly accepted the MarcUS for Change “Spirit Award” along with a check for $1,000 for the school with the largest number of participants.
