Stamford Aite Teams Named Finalists In Nfte Competition

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Students at Stamford's Academy of Information Technology & Engineering (AITE) were recently named finalists in the the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) World Series.

Two teams from AITE, under the leadership of business teacher Lawrence Keller, advanced in the competition and residents can vote for a team of winners. The international contest is a "fun, experiential activity that allows students to think creatively and invent new products or services that address everyday opportunities," NFTE representatives said.

“I am once again very proud of our AITE students,” said Keller in a press release. “This is the third year of the contest, and AITE has had finalists and grand prize winners in each of the first two years.”

AITE students Michelle Printsev, Bridget Smith, and Lina Elmansy are finalists in the category of “Forty Chances Food and Nutrition Solutions,” which addresses the challenge of reducing food waste.

Devon Solomon, Dayana Ortiz, and Jeremy Leone are finalists in the category of “Tablet/Smartphone App Design.”

Two winning teams will be selected, with one chosen by a committee of judges from the sponsoring organization and one chosen by popular vote through an online voting platform during Global Entrepreneurship Week, according to NFTE.
