This program provides students who need additional academic and/or social support with the resources and guidance required to be successful during middle school, high school and in all college or career endeavors.
For the 2014-2015 school year, SPEF provided mentoring services to 411 students fifth through 12th grades and engaged more than 300 mentors to support the programs.
“The Stamford Public Education Foundation has built a strong reputation for funding and operating school-based programs that connect college, community and corporate volunteers with Stamford Public School students,” said Matthew Quinones, CEO at SPEF.
“Educational enrichment for families and children is one of the areas that First County Bank Foundation supports, and we are appreciative it has once again selected SPEF to be a recipient of its generosity. Because our programs are 100 percent donor funded, delivered at no cost to the Stamford Public School District, it is critical to receive donations such as this from our community partners,” continued Quinones.
SPEF’s mission is to support the students and teachers in Stamford's Public Schools through community collaboration and philanthropy. At the elementary level, the foundation supports literacy initiatives and at the middle and high school levels, focuses on college and career readiness.
