The two community partners included Heckscher Farm in Stamford at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center with horses, cattle, goats and a llama or two, and PAWS of Norwalk with dogs and cats.

During the workshops, basic hands-on skills, required by NCC’s Veterinary Technology Program, were introduced to the student practitioners.  There are over 300 specific psychomotor skills that the Veterinary Technology students will master during their training.

There are opportunities for collaboration and outreach within the community as the NCC Vet Tech program builds clinical relationships with shelters, farms, zoos and veterinary clinics. The NCC clinical students and faculty are grateful to the staff and animals at Heckscher Farm and PAWS for helping them kick off their clinical training.

The NCC Veterinary Technology Program is working toward accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association. The program is made possible by the generous support of the NCC Foundation; and is also funded, in part, by the Connecticut Health & Life Sciences Career Initiative, a Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training grant, as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor. HL-SCI is an equal opportunity program.
