Items Sought for School Auction

Carla Carroll and Christine Meek are already preparing for the spring auction benefiting Stamford's Northeast Elementary School programs. They're looking for items to put up for bid, and they're looking to residents and businesses to donate them.

The co-chairs are spearheading the "Direction to Success" fund-raiser, planned for April 1 at the Italian Center, 1620 Newfield Ave.

Held every other year, the auction helps support supplementary educational projects both in and outside the classroom. Previous projects made possible through auction funds include playground upgrades, teacher web sites, equipment for the media center and cultural presentations at the school.

There will be both live and silent auctions, and live music by the band Radon Love. All members – Kent Eby, Bob Heuman and Jean Madar – have children who now attend or recently attended Northeast.

In addition to Carroll and Meek, committee members include Andrea Chasanoff, Jeanna Cavanaugh, Melissa Phillips, Gretchen Orr, Stacy Lesser, Kerrie Hagan, Julie Epstein, Kim Schweber, Lara Winters, Andrea Greenburg and Erika Rogers Marino.

"Due to the hard work of the committee and the gracious generosity of donors, the Northeast Auction has been varied and led to great success," said Marino, one of the committee's newest members. "We hope again this year to present a wide array of interesting and enticing items on which attendees may bid."
