Five Stamford Students Receive Statewide Scholastic Art Awards

STAMFORD, Conn. --- Five Stamford High School students were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the 26th Annual Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards exhibition.

The Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards exhibition is the largest juried student art exhibition in the state.

The awards presentation was held in January at Lincoln Theater, University of Hartford. 

The student artwork was exhibited in the Silpe Gallery, University of Hartford, from Jan. 17 to Feb. 6.

The following awards were presented:

  • Matt Denicola, Gold Key, Portfolio.
  • Sophie Lyons, Silver Key, Photography.
  • Brandon Hoak, Silver Key, Drawing. 
  • Lizbeth Rosario, Honorable Mention, Jewelry.
  • Cristian Peralta, Honorable Mention, Photography.

As an affiliate of the National Scholastic Art Awards and The Alliance For Young Artists and Writers, this national program honors the creative efforts of students, in grades 7 to 12, who attend public, private, and parochial schools. 

Submissions in a number of art media categories were judged by artists, university faculty, and professionals in the field. 

The local students were among 130 participating Connecticut schools.
