STAMFORD, Conn. -- Critically acclaimed journalist and author Paul Tough will discuss his new book "How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character" in the King Low Heywood Thomas School Performing Arts Center in Stamford on Friday at 7 p.m.
The book is an attempt to answer the question: Why do certain children succeed while other children fail?
Tough argues that the qualities that matter in school have less to do with simple intelligence and more to do with character: skills like perseverance, curiosity, optimism, and self-control.
Admission to the event is free and copies of the book will be on sale for $27 each.
King Low Heywood Thomas School is at 1450 Newfield Ave. in Stamford
