FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – New construction in Fairfield County providing spacious houses for wealthy buyers is making a comeback after a quiet market due to the recession, reports the New York Times.

According to the report, there is a high demand around the county for properties to tear down to make way for new construction -- which is directly in competition with buyers looking for older homes. the Times said.

Builders in Westport will pay more than $1 million for a teardown, and $2 million near the water in Westport, according to the New York Times. Another hot spot for builders is in New Canaan, the Times said.
