Drapkin made a name for himself by brokering mega-deals for billionaire Ronald Perelman including the acquisition of Marvel Comics, AlliedBarton and Revlon, NJ.com reported.

Perelman and Drapkin had a falling out in 2007 due to unpaid compensation. Drapkin was later awarded $16 million for breach of contract, NJ.com said.

Drapkin went on to co-found the hedge fund Casablanca, which at one point controlled the country's largest iron ore miner, Cliffs Natural Resources Inc., The Wall Street Journal said.
