William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty agents Nancy and Phil Crosland represented the buyer in the sale of the home, a Long Island Sound-front property. Halstead represented the seller.

With over 200 feet of direct waterfront, the property offers more than 2 manicured acres with a private beach, stone terrace and custom-designed oceanfront swimming pool with spa.

Originally built in 1866 as a carriage house, the home has been transformed over the years to maintain its historic integrity by several owners, including Plummer.

The result is a 7,739-square-foot estate designed to emphasize its water views, particularly from the kitchen, adjoining family room, library, master suite, office, guest suite and four balconies overlooking the shoreline. Additional living spaces include a large great room and dining room with 12-foot ceilings, nine baths and a lower-level recreation room and gym.

“This property’s understated elegance, warmth and historic architectural detail, combined with its prime waterfront location, make it one of a kind. We are honored to have taken part in this sale,” said Nancy Crosland.

“This sale demonstrates that there will always be strong and ongoing demand for unique waterfront properties such as this one, with its coveted location and breathtaking views,” said Phil Crosland.

Plummer starred in "The Sound of Music" in 1965, and has a vast collection of film and Broadway credits. He now lives in Weston, according to Wikipedia.
