The following are the responses of Terry Adams, the Democratic candidate for the 146th District in Stamford.
If elected, what would you do to improve roads and trains in Fairfield County?
I will look out for our commuters who use the Transportation Center every day. The residents of the 146th district deserve sufficient parking that is close to the platform. I will fight against border tolls which unfairly target our part of the state. I will demand that Metro North improve the quality of its service so that my constituents can safely use mass transit to travel.
If elected, what is your position on state spending and the state budget?
For the past decade, I have worked on balancing the City's budget as a member of the Board of Representatives. We need to strive for efficiencies in the state budget. As a property owner and taxpayer, I know it is important that the state not pass these costs down to the cities and towns. It is the state’s responsibility to find these reductions without increasing the local property tax, which is the most regressive tax of all.
What is another top issue or priority in your town or district that you would address in office?
Pedestrian safety is a tremendously important issue that impacts the people of Stamford every day and it requires further legislative attention.
Why should people vote for you?
I have lived and worked in the district for nearly forty years. I understand the needs of this part of the city. As a city representative since 2004, I have listened to the concerns of the people who represent this part of Stamford, and I am best equipped to explain the needs of my friends and neighbors to others in state government. It would be an honor to use my experiences to assist the residents of the 146th District.
